Students develop knowledge and skills that help them to promote positive well-being for themselves, other people, and society. They develop their understanding of Hauora and how different aspects of well-being influence overall well-being. They will explore the inter-relationships between individuals, others and society that can influence well-being. They will also develop the skills to take action for their well-being, the well-being of others and/or their community.


Course Overview

Term 1
Learning about the models of Health through, passion, connection and Te Whare Tapa Wha. Looking at Cultural treasure and connecting with culture. Setting Goals to to enhance a chosen aspect of well-being. Will be given practical opportunities outside the classroom to work on strengthening your own well-being to achieve your goal. This may include, Pilates, yoga, fitness circuits etc...

Term 2
Develop decision making skills in the context of health related situations. Here you will learn about Maramataka in relation to making decisions for Mental Health.

Term 3
Investigating factors & strategies that influence Health. External

Term 4
Tidy up an remaining assessments to prepare for the exam.
