English

English courses are designed for a number of purposes.

ENG courses are academic and provide the credits needed for students to follow their pathway to Tertiary courses, many of which require English credits at certain levels.

The ENV courses are designed for students who work at a slower speed and while they are designed around the same Achievement Standards students often complete fewer standards in the year.

- ESOL standards are available for students who have English as a second language and who find English language more difficult.

The L1ENP course is designed to get students to pass functional literacy and focus on Supported Unit Standards that teach life skills. This course is specifically aimed at students who struggle with literacy so they can gain their Level 1 NCEA.

English as a subject is compulsory through Year 12 and we endeavour to place students in courses that will meet their needs and abilities.

Pathways English focuses on Generic and Core Unit Standards that are work related.
