Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Miss P. Nepe Apatu.

To enhance and advance an awareness and understanding and ability to use and practice Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori within contemporary and expanded global contexts relevant to rangatahi and the Māori world.

 
Students will focus on enhancing and advancing their skills in the areas of Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening Comprehension within in the following learning contexts;

  • Ngā Take Nui o te Hāpori, Motu, Ao rānei - Local, National & International Issues. 
  • Ngā Hītori o ngā iwi – Historical Tribal Stories
  • Ngā Mōteatea – Traditional Māori Song and Haka
  • Ngā Rautaki Whakarauora Reo – Māori Language Revitalisation
  • Karakia – Traditional Prayer
  • Ngā Uara Māori – Māori Values and Practices

Recommended Prior Learning

Level 2 Te Reo Maori or after consultation with the teacher
