L2TRA

L2 Trades Carpentry (L2TRA)

Course Description

Overview

Trades Carpentry (L2 TRA) is for students who are wishing to develop knowledge and practical skills in carpentry, or who may be interested in a career within the building and construction industry. This course is taught and assessed using the Building, Construction, and Allied Trades Skills (BCATS) Level 2 unit standards.

Projects

Students will undertake several projects aimed to develop and assess their skills under the BCATS program.

Health and Safety and Behaviour Expectations

The school workshops are hazardous environments. The safety of our staff and students is a priority. As such a high standard of student behaviour is always expected. Students are required to follow all teacher instructions and all health and safety procedures. Students are not permitted to use any equipment or machinery without training and the permission of the classroom teacher.

Take Home Project Expenses

Students will be supplied a set amount of materials for their projects and the cost for these will be added to the student’s account by the Bursar.

*Once projects are assessed students must pay for and take projects home within two weeks. The teacher will advise students when projects are ready to take home.

Pathways

The skills learnt in this course can be used in a range of industries, particularly the building and construction sectors, but also provide valuable life skills.
