Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

Learners must be prepared to keep up with all tasks. This course caters to both academic and non-academic students, however good time management skills and an ability to think creatively are essential. This course is a pre-requisite to NCEA Level 2 Painting/Sculpture.


Learners will investigate and explore their world and their place in it. We have a strong focus on local context, mātauranga Māori and students' own cultural identity. 

The Level 1 Visual Arts course is designed to explore a range of techniques and disciplines within Drawing, Painting, Sculpture & Printmaking establishing a basis from which students can specialize from Year 12 onwards. 

This course is a full NCEA subject with 20 Credits on offer
